Iraq’s Council of Ministers has approved the findings of an investigative report into violations linked to the rehabilitation of Iraq’s railway network, originally issued by the Federal Commission of Integrity on 4th July 2024.
The decision was based on recommendations from Diwani Order Committee No. 7 of 2025.
As a result, two senior officials from the Ministry of Transport have been dismissed for dereliction of duty:
- Yaqoub Hussein Salem, Director General of the Legal Department
- Abbas Nasser Majid, Director General of the Contracts and Licensing Department
The case has now been referred to the Federal Commission of Integrity to finalise legal procedures through the judiciary.
