The Baghdad Coffee and Tea Festival and the opening of 650 Café’s new branch in Al Yarmouk showcased a mix of modern trends and rich cultural roots. These events brought the community together, sharing a love for coffee, tea, and good company.
Baghdad Coffee and Tea Festival: A Celebration of Tradition
From October 3-5, 2024, the first Coffee and Tea Festival took place at Palms of Baghdad Park. Unfold Agency, in partnership with Bunn Ridha Alwan and Iraq’s Ministry of Tourism, organised the event. It attracted over 15,000 visitors and featured more than 40 brands from Iraq and abroad.
Brands like Mokkador Cafe, Ahmed Tea, and Exit Cafe offered samples and competitions. Visitors enjoyed tastings while experts, including Amar Al-Khatib, discussed the cultural role of coffee and tea in Iraq. The talks gave people more insight into how these beverages connect with Iraqi traditions.
Young volunteers helped run the festival. Their enthusiasm and hard work made the event a success and showed their desire to shape Iraq’s cultural future.
The festival wasn’t just about drinks. It celebrated Iraq’s values of hospitality and community, blending old customs with modern practices.
650 Café Expands to Al Yarmouk
In October 2024, 650 Café opened a second branch in Baghdad’s Al Yarmouk district. The café is known for combining a relaxing atmosphere with fitness, a feature that made the original location in Al Karradah so popular.
Al Yarmouk is a lively area with many popular restaurants and cafes. 650 Café adds to its charm, offering a unique space for people to relax, work out, and enjoy good food and coffee.
Tradition Meets Innovation
The Baghdad Coffee and Tea Festival and 650 Café’s new branch highlight a growing trend in Iraq. People are embracing modern lifestyles while keeping their cultural traditions alive. These events show how Baghdad is becoming a place where old meets new, creating vibrant spaces for everyone to enjoy.
